Not just new music –
a new musical experience!
This year the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble celebrates its 25th full season of performing and recording rarely heard works of the 20th & 21st centuries with a primary interest in living composers. VCME has made a significant contribution to the music scene in Vermont with 92 commissioned works and more than 114 premiere performances to date.
This season features a melding of traditional African music and western styles with African drummer Damascus Kafumbe and the ensemble. We present 20th century masterworks, this year’s Pulitzer prize winner Kevin Puts, and a major new work by Thomas Read. And, we return to the marriage of poetry and music featuring the poetry of Vermont’s poet laureate Sydney Lea and the music of some of Vermont’s finest composers.
